This has been a commssioned work from a friend of mine, a civil engineer with an insane flair for steampunk sculpture based in Foligno, Italy. In december 2011 he called me for a poster about his city hall renovation work, sending stacks of autocad drawings, indoor shooting (especially the rusted hall clock) and ...nothing about the facade.
«It's nothing very valuable» he said.
«Memory can ben considered like a process in which tiled fragments match our previous experiences, no matter how they fit the medium» I replied, asking him to take some cheap shots with his smartphone which to create a photocollage, fragments to show-and-tell his "erlebnis" of the neglected facade, without any temptation to create panoramas or other diverting silly apps. Through the capture this series somewhat became the next challenge. In one of the shots, the old lady dressing a black cape was awkwardly hurrying away the mobile cyclop's eye. We had to recede her position swapping it with the flaneur embodied in his proxemic bubble walking before the camera and wearing a typical italian "coppola".
It seems I don't have the rights to publish drawings and plants of this local government project, after the cleaver's ugly crop I will let the photocollage and swap them with something free to use.
I hope to be almost unseen getting it back online. Shh...
